MADRID, 4 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The third vice president of the Government and Minister of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, stated this Thursday that electricity prices will continue to be low for a while, with “specific episodes” of negative prices, as happened last Monday .

“There may occasionally be episodes like Monday’s in which there are very slightly negative prices, well below zero, and yes, for a still very important time we have very low prices,” he said in statements to RNE reported by Europa Press. .

Ribera has attributed this situation of low electricity prices to renewable energies, whose operating costs are lower.

“This explains why this growing weight of renewable energies in our mix, something that was impossible to imagine not so long ago and which reaches 65% or 66% of all the electricity we consume in recent days, offers such prices. lows, displacing other traditional conventional technologies in our system,” he pointed out.

For Ribera, it is a “reason for pride, for success” that the important investment in renewables that has been made bears fruit and “everyone realizes why it is good to take advantage of our solar and wind resources” and why Furthermore, it is interesting from an industrial point of view to have these low prices and to invest and produce goods for these technologies, such as solar panels or trackers.
