MADRID, 1 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Banco Santander and BBVA have been awarded as the best bank in Spain and the best bank in America, respectively, by the British publication ‘The Banker’, while Unicredit has been chosen as the best financial institution globally.

Regarding Santander, the publication has highlighted its ‘One Transformation’ strategy, which combines a single operating and business model for all commercial banking clients.

“It is an honor to be named the best bank in the country. In the last year, we have been focused on helping our clients and being very close to them in the face of a complex economic environment, marked by inflation and uncertainty, the challenges of digitalization and the energy transition”, indicated the CEO of Santander Spain, Ángel Rivera.

The publication has also assessed the bank’s strategy with a focus on companies and SMEs. Santander has highlighted its commitment to being a business-oriented bank, specializing in this type of client, regardless of size or the sector of activity in which they are present.

For its part, BBVA has been chosen the best bank in America at a regional level. ‘The Banker’ has highlighted the entity’s “digital capabilities”, which have helped consolidate its position as the best bank in the region.

“Our banks have a leadership position in the region thanks to our global strategy, in which innovation has been key. We are a long-term investor in the region and believe in its high growth potential, with clear opportunities for financial inclusion and sustainability, due to its incredible biodiversity,” added BBVA’s head of country monitoring, Jorge Sáenz-Azcúnaga.

Likewise, the magazine has also highlighted the expansion of Openpay, BBVA’s digital payments subsidiary, and the launch of Spark, its bank for startups in the region.

Santander has also been chosen as the best bank in Chile, while BBVA has won this award in Mexico and Peru.
