The ex-firefighter from Sherbrooke, in the Eastern Townships, convicted of sex crimes against 11 victims, including 10 under the age of 16, was sentenced to ten years in prison on Thursday.
At the time of the crimes, from 1982 to 2012, Denis Clavelle, 72, and his spouse acted as a foster family and then as an intermediate resource with the Department of Youth Protection.
The 11th victim is a young adult with intellectual disability. The attacks on him were committed from 2016 to 2020.
Judge Danielle Côté took into account in her decision the high degree of moral culpability of the septuagenarian, his insincere remorse expressed and the denial of responsibility expressed with regard to his victims.
