The staff of the Montreal Canadiens and Shane Wright shared a meal, and the hope in anticipation of the next draft finds that the current went well.

“It was great and I think it was a great experience,” Wright said during his appearance on the “NHL Draft Class” podcast.
“I had the chance to get to know them better. They asked me questions about my personality. I asked about the city. I am happy to meet me. There are great people in this organization.”
The CH holds the first round of the 2022 amateur auction and is closely following the National League evaluation camp in Buffalo.
Wright is expected to be one of the first players to hear his name, and has been for several years. However, he is not considered a 100% safe choice for the first selection, particularly since the emergence of the Slovak Juraj Slafkovsky.
“It would mean a lot to me [to be the first choice],” Wright said. It would mean that all the effort, hard work and hours that I put into it have paid off. It’s one thing to receive this honor, but it’s another to be able to make a difference and be a concession player.
“What is most important is what you do after being selected with the first choice. It’s to prepare you for training camp and to show that you deserve a place in a formation.
Excited by Martin St-Louis
On Wednesday, the Canadiens awarded head coach Martin St-Louis a three-year contract. The 46-year-old was not present at the meal with Wright, but the prospect had nothing but good things to say about the former Bettman Tour forward.
“From what I read, I think the players like playing for him,” said the 18-year-old. Hockey players seem to trust him. He helped the young people in the organization.”
“It’s a club that has a lot of young talent, but also has good veterans,” Wright said. This is a club that reached the Stanley Cup final last year. I think there is a lot of potential and good players there. I asked a lot of questions about that during our supper.”
Wright and St. Louis do not know each other personally, but the former has already faced the latter’s son when they were younger and it was the Habs driver who coached his boy’s team.
