Employment in Quebec was little changed in May after declining in April and, due to more people participating in the labor market, the unemployment rate rose by 0.3 percentage points to reach 4 .2%. Domestically, it fell slightly to 5.1%.

This is what Statistics Canada announced on Friday when it unveiled its “Labour Force Survey”.

The province had 4,384,600 people in employment last month, up 5,100, or 0.1% from April 2022.
Domestically, employment increased by 40,000 (0.2%) in May.
