The average retirement pension increases by 9.4% year-on-year, up to 1,377.7 euros per month
In this month of November, Social Security allocated the record figure of 12,100.8 million euros to the payment of the ordinary monthly payroll of contributory pensions, almost 10.9% more than in the same month of 2022, an amount that We must add the extra pay that is charged this month and to which it has dedicated 11,823 million euros, as reported this Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
The ordinary monthly pension payroll exceeded 12,000 million euros for the first time in July and this month it once again sets a new record. This is due to the fact that, in application of the pension reform, these have increased by 8.5% by 2023 as a result of the average inflation of the period December 2021-November 2022.
The Department headed by Elma Saiz estimates that pension spending stood at 11.5% of GDP in the last twelve months, below that of 2022 (11.7% of GDP), 2021 (12.1% of GDP) and 2020 (12.4% of GDP), a year conditioned by the impact of the pandemic on GDP.
Of the 12,100.8 million euros that were dedicated in November to the ordinary payroll of contributory pensions, almost three quarters (73%) were allocated to the payment of retirement pensions, which totaled an amount of 8,839 million euros , 11.7% more than in November of last year.
2,010.9 million euros were allocated to widow’s pensions, 9.3% more than a year ago, while 1,055.7 million euros were allocated to permanent disability benefits (7.5%).
For its part, the payment of orphan’s benefits involved an amount of 163.2 million (9%), and that of benefits for family members totaled 32 million euros (11.9%).
RETIREMENT, THE MAIN PENSION FOR 6.3 MILLION PEOPLE
In November of this year, 10,101,961 contributory pensions were paid, almost 1.3% more than a year ago, to just over 9.14 million pensioners. Of the total pensions, more than 6.4 million were retirement pensions; 2.35 million were widow’s pensions; 945,141 were permanently disabled; 340,491 were orphan’s pensions, and 45,416, in favor of family members.
Of the total pensioners (9,145,589 as of November 1 of this year), 4.6 million are men and 4.5 million are women. The number of pensions per pensioner is 1.1.
The main pension received is retirement for 6.3 million people, of which 60.1% are men; widowhood benefit is the main benefit for 1.5 million people (95.8% are women); permanent disability is the main pension for 940,387 pensioners; that of orphans for 322,796 people, and that of favor of relatives for 44,770 pensioners.
THE AVERAGE RETIREMENT PENSION, OF 1,377.7 EUROS PER MONTH
After the increase in pensions with the CPI applied since the beginning of the year, the average retirement pension increased by 9.4% year-on-year in November, to 1,377.7 euros per month.
In the General Regime, the average retirement pension amounted to 1,533.7 euros per month, compared to 917.6 euros per month in the Self-Employed Regime. In Coal Mining, the average retirement pension is 2,687.1 euros per month and in Sea Mining, 1,527.4 euros.
The average amount of new retirement registrations amounted to 1,409.6 euros per month in October of this year (latest data available).
In November, the average widow’s pension stood at 853.7 euros per month, with an interannual growth of 9.3%, while the average pension of the system, which includes the different types of pension (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood , orphanhood and in favor of relatives), increased by 9.5%, reaching 1,197.9 euros per month as of November 1.
The Ministry has reported that in October (latest data available) the average resolution of files was 10.3 days in the case of retirement pensions and 15.1 days in the case of widow’s pensions.
In this sense, the Department headed by Elma Saiz has recalled that, by law, the maximum resolution period is 90 days for both retirement and widow’s pensions.
PASSIVE CLASSES
On the other hand, the number of pensions belonging to passive classes in force at the end of October of this year (latest data available) was 705,057, a figure 2.1% higher than that of the same month of 2022. The monthly payroll of these pensions amounted to 1,514.8 million euros, 12.3% more than in the same month last year.
The State Passive Classes Regime fundamentally includes military personnel and officials of the General State Administration, the Administration of Justice, the General Courts and other constitutional or state bodies, as well as officials transferred to the autonomous communities.
ALMOST 620,000 PENSIONS RECEIVE SUPPLEMENT DUE TO THE GENDER GAP
As of November 1, 619,832 pensions received the gender gap supplement, the objective of which is to gradually correct the difference that occurs between the average pension received by a man and that received by a woman.
The average monthly amount of this pension supplement, received by 90.7% of women, is 65.4 euros. Of the 619,832 supplemented pensions, 23.2% correspond to pensioners with a child (143,713); 47.1%, with two children (291,869); 19.3%, with three (119,582), and 10.4% (64,668), with four children.
This supplement, in force since February 2021, consists of a fixed amount that, after the revaluation for 2023, amounts to 30.4 euros per month per child. The supplement is applied from the first child and up to a maximum of four and is requested at the same time as the pension is requested.
