The airport route was the one that served as the entrance to the largest number of tourists in June, with more than 7 million, representing an annual increase of 9.5%. 15.2% more tourists arrived by road, 26% more by rail and 49.2% more by port.
Almost 7 million tourists used hotel accommodation or rental homes for their holidays in Spain, while another 1.3 million opted for owned homes or houses of relatives or friends. The INE data show that total tourist spending in Spain last June reached 10,606 million euros, which represents an increase of 17.5% compared to the same month of 2022 and 9.5% above the of the same month of 2019.
The average cost per tourist was 1,275 euros, with an annual increase of 5.9%. For its part, average daily spending grew by 7.9%, to 188 euros, according to data from the Tourist Expenditure Survey (Egatur).
TRANSPORTATION EXPENDITURE GROWS BY 25%.
Spending on international transportation (not included in the tourist package) was the main item, with 21.3% of total spending and an increase of 24.8% compared to the same month in 2022. It is followed by spending on activities and the spending on tourist packages, with 20.8% and 17.4% of the total, respectively.
64.2% of total spending in June was made by tourists who stayed overnight in hotel accommodation, with an annual increase of 11%. For its part, spending on accommodation owned or owned by family and friends grew by 42.2%, according to data from the INE.
The spending of tourists without a tourist package (which represents 74.5% of the total) increased by 15.8% in the annual rate, while that of those who contracted tourist packages increased by 22.8%.
