The Blackhawks came into their game against the Coyotes on a three-game losing streak.
But the Coyotes are one of the worst teams in the league, and that certainly helped the Hawks on Thursday.
The Hawks lead the Coyotes 3-0 after the first period. Patrick Kane got the scoring going at 8:44 when he fired a wrist shot past Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith on a power play. It was Kane’s 16th goal of the season.
The Hawks wasted little time in adding to the lead when Ryan Hartman scored on a shot from up top that made it low through several players before beating Smith at 9:56.
Then Marian Hossa scored the Hawks’ second power-play goal of the night as he sliced through the defense, took a feed from Artemi Panarin and made a move on Smith to score his 19th goal of the season.
