Maybe Kyrie Irving would have benefited from a few more years of that pricey Duke education.
The Cavaliers point guard, who has established himself as one of the premier players in the NBA, caused a stir by saying he believes the earth is flat, not round, while participating on the podcast “Road Tripping with RJ and Channing.”
“This is not even a conspiracy theory,” Kyrie said. “The earth is flat.”
Irving’s answer came after teammate Channing Frye asked if he thought aliens exist, and Irving took the opportunity to discuss one of the internet’s most popular theories.
“I’m telling you, it’s right in front of our faces,” Irving said. “They lie to us.”
Both Frye and Richard Jefferson seemed incredulous at Irving’s answer, frequently refusing to agree with their All-Star teammate’s opinion.
While Irving admitted he was taught the earth is round, he believes it has caused much of humanity to be brainwashed. His argument points to the fact people are taught the earth is round from an early age without a chance to form their own opinion.
“If you really think about it from a landscape of the way we travel, the way we move and the fact that, can you really think of us rotating around the sun and all planets aligned?” Irving asked. “There is no concrete information except for the information they’re giving us. They’re particularly putting you in the direction of what to believe and what not to believe. The truth is right there. You just got to go searching for it.”
Perhaps Irving’s search should take him to Google, where he can find the concrete information he believes is lacking.
