Former Chicago Cubs pitcher Mike Morgan was fond of repeating Bob Seger’s song "Turn The Page" in the spring of 2002 after he and his Arizona Diamondbacks won the World Series.

That slogan has surfaced again, thanks in part to since-retired David Ross, as the Cubs take the field Wednesday for the first time since winning their first World Series title since 1908.

“It was a busy (winter)," Kyle Schwarber said. "There was a lot of travel. But I won’t want to have it any other way. We’re World Series champions. People want to congratulate you.

"We really appreciate that, but now it’s time to turn the page as David would say and get ready for 2017."

Schwarber had a quick response after a reporter suggested that "Turn The Page" might a new slogan for the T-shirt crazy Cubs.

"Right," Schwarber said. "’Turn the page with David’s face on the back.’"

Catcher Buster Posey has moved on after his Giants blew a three-run lead in the ninth inning of a 6-5 loss in Game 4 of the National League Division Series that allowed the Cubs to avoid a Game 5 against Johnny Cueto and instead advance to the NL Championship Series.

"That was our goal," Posey said last month in regards to forcing a fifth and deciding game of the NLDS at Wrigley Field. "Everyone wanted to see that game. I would have loved to have been a part of Game 5. I wanted to come out on top, but it would have been a fun game.

"Hats off to those guys. They had a heck of a run. I don’t think anyone could complain about that World Series. Even if you weren’t a big baseball fan, you had to be entertained with the way that turned out."
