ESPN and New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul settled his lawsuit against the network this week.
Pierre-Paul’s attorneys released a statement saying: “Jason-Pierre Paul has amicably resolved the pending litigation with Adam Schefter and ESPN. Mr. Pierre-Paul will not be making any further comment.”.
ESPN released a statement saying: “ESPN continues to firmly believe that its reporting about Mr. Pierre-Paul’s July 2015 injury, including the use of a medical chart that definitively described the seriousness of the injury and resulting treatment, was both newsworthy and journalistically appropriate. Despite their different points of view, the parties have agreed to amicably resolve their dispute rather than continue their litigation.”
Pierre-Paul sued ESPN and Schefter in 2016 after medical charts detailing Paul’s surgery were made public on social media. Pierre-Paul was injured in a July 4, 2015 fireworks accident that caused him to lose his index finger and damage his hand.
