HOUSTON — Fans scrambling for tickets to Super Bowl LI featuring Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots against Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday Feb. 5 can still find a decent ticket. For a hefty price.
While Super Bowl ticket prices have not reached the lofty peaks of previous years for the Patriots’ potential fifth championship, the cheapest ticket remaining on StubHub is currently in the upper corner of NRG Stadium in section 642, Row J, and can be yours for $3,195.00 as of two hours before kickoff.
As Yahoo! Sports’ Charles Robinson explains, brokers believe that it would be a much tougher and expensive ticket if the Cowboys were appearing in the Super Bowl just 3.5 hours away from Dallas.
“If the Cowboys were here, you’d see low-level seats, ‘get-in’ prices, they’d be at least $1,000 higher than where they are right now — at least,” one broker told Robinson. “It could have been even more. It might have been $2,000 higher just to get in. The $2,200 to $2,500 tickets you’re seeing could have easily been $4,000 to $5,000. It was that big of a deal. Who knows? But our calls from the average guy who still didn’t have tickets was probably cut in half or more when Dallas lost. And it got even worse when Green Bay and Pittsburgh went out.”
