Comments: Lightner went up to 220 to meet Hunterdon Central senior Victor Lacombe and lost 8-7 in perhaps the best single bout of the season in the region. The Terrier was in on multiple shots he’d have finished against any 195-pounder but Lacombe was just a tad too strong. That loss is not held against Lightner – indeed the opposite, taking on such a challenge is to be highly praised and rewarded, but Lightner’s already No. 1, so there he stays. Horun defeated Fernandes 6-2 in a dual. The Viking also lost up at 220 to Hasbrouck Heights’ Dan O’Malley 5-0; both are ranked sixth at their respective weights in the state by Wrestling Full Circle so Fernandes stays where he is. Perugini looks better and better each time we see him and will be a strong candidate for the most-improved team.
