Left-hander Jose Quintana will lead the White Sox contingent at the World Baseball Classic next month when he pitches for Colombia.

The WBC announced rosters for the 16-team tournament Wednesday, and Quintana is one of several Sox pitchers set to participate.

Sox closer David Robertson and setup man Nate Jones are set to pitch for the U.S. team. Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez will represent Mexico. Recent addition Giovanni Soto, a left-handed reliever, is on the Puerto Rico roster. Minor league pitchers Brad Goldberg and Alex Katz will represent Israel and Gregory Infante will represent Venezuela.

Quintana said he started playing catch two weeks early to prepare for his stint in the WBC.

“I’m excited,” he said at SoxFest. “Everybody is excited in my country too. It’s the first time we play in the WBC. That’s an honor for me to play for my country.”

Teams report to spring training several days early this year to make up for the time players miss while participating in the WBC. First-round games begin March 6 and will be played at four different sites. The championship round will be played March 20-22 at Dodger Stadium.
