Lehigh 74, Navy 55 – Rapid Recap

Lehigh men’s basketball team bounced back from a tough road loss to Holy Cross on Sunday to beat Navy 74-55 on Wednesday night at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem.

Turning points: The Mountain Hawks went on a 9-0 run late in the first half to open up a 32-14 lead with 4:47 remaining in the first half. Freshman forward Pat Andree gave Lehigh the 18-point lead on a 3-pointer.

After Hasan Abdullah hit a 3-pointer for Navy with 15:37 left in the second half to cut Lehigh’s lead to 38-34, the Mountain Hawks went on a 22-5 lead to make it 60-39 with 7:38 left in the second half. Lehigh senior guard Austin Price and Andree hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Mountain Hawks a 13-point lead with 11:43 remaining in the second half.

Top performers: Price led Lehigh with 19 points. Andree, senior center/forward Tim Kempton and sophomore guard Kyle Leufroy each added 12 points for the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh junior guard Brandon Alston was the fifth Lehigh player in double figures as he finished with 10 points. Kempton, who was honored before the game for becoming Lehigh’s all-time rebound leader, had eight rebounds on the night.

Edward Alade led Navy with 10 points.

What it means: The Mountain Hawks improved to 15-11 overall and 9-6 in the Patriot League with the victory. Navy fell to 15-12 overall and 10-5 in the league. Lehigh’s win avenged a 75-72 road loss to the Midshipmen on Jan. 18. The Mountain Hawks play at Lafayette at noon Sunday.
