An interested party has stepped up.

As the Sixers look to solve a logjam at the center position, trading second-year big man Jahlil Okafor could make sense for a team on the rise.

The hard part, at least since Okafor rumors began last summer, has been finding a team interested in a player with a game built for an old-school NBA–post scoring, lack of outside shooting ability and limited defense.

It sounds like the Chicago Bulls are the team willing to overlook Okafor’s flaws for the hope of adding a scoring punch to the paint, per CSN Chicago.

The Bulls have been active with the trade deadline approaching, and they’ve inquired about the availability of Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor, multiple league sources tell CSNChicago.com.

Okafor, a Chicago native in his second season, has fallen victim to both a numbers game in Philadelphia and also a changing game, as he’s more of a traditional half-court center who isn’t defensively inclined.

He’s on the trading block as the 76ers have surged with the play of Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel manning the middle, and the Bulls are interested, as they don’t have much in the way of low-post scoring.

Sixers blockbuster?

The report describes the Bulls as the aggressor in these talks and the Sixers unsure if the teams can match up on a deal that would satisfy both sides.

Okafor is averaging 11.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season. Last year’s rookie standout has received limited playing time over the last month behind centers Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid.
