Is the NHL finally on it’s way to Portland?

It could be.

According to the Glendale Star, representatives of the Arizona Coyotes have resumed exploring Portland and Seattle as a possible new home for the struggling NHL franchise. Members of the Coyotes toured the Moda Center in Portland and KeyArena in Seattle during the past three months.

When asked about reports of officials touring the two arenas, Coyotes Executive Vice President of Communications Rich Nairn denied the rumors.

“That is false,” Nairn told The Star via email.

The Moda Center, home of the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers, has been long rumored to want a NHL team.

During the past decade, Portland has been one of the rumored landing spots for the Coyotes, as well as Seattle. Arizona has the third-worst attendance in the NHL this season, leading only the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Islanders.
