Reagan boys soccer coach Gilbert Villarreal regretted the way his team started its District 26-6A game on Tuesday at the Blossom Soccer Stadium. Lee coach David Rogers lamented how his team finished it.
The two stretches, brief in duration, proved large in the big picture as the No. 2 Rattlers scored twice in 39 seconds late in the contest and rallied to tied No. 4 Lee 2-2. The match ended with a Lee defender deflecting away a shot in front of the goal as time expired.
“To get a tie out of it, I guess, is a positive,” Villarreal said. “But we’ve got to really try and fix some of the mistakes in the first half. We’re creating chances, and we’ve been scoring goals. We, obviously, like to finish better.”
Facing its largest deficit of the season, Reagan (9-1-2, 2-0-1) knotted the score at 2-2 in the 70th minute when Michael Morell put in a pass from Justin Sukow. Sukow had pulled his team within 2-1 when he put in a pass from Shane Malone only 39 seconds earlier.
The quick scoring was a theme. Lee (7-2-2, 1-0-1) built a 2-0 advantage in the first half by tallying both goals in four minutes. Miguel Moreno put in a pass from Ernesto Diaz in the 31st minute, and Diaz scored off an assist from John Paul Bogran in the 35th minute.
Lee appeared as if it would sustain its margin before Reagan’s late flurry.
“Our guys played great defensively all night,” Rogers said. “Probably had a bad five-minute span there, and they took advantage of it. Old cliche is two-nothing in soccer is the most dangerous lead. It proved true tonight.”

Wright put in a pass from Sarah Turner in the 68th minute to complete the scoring. Brandeis (7-1-1, 7-0-1) led 2-1 when Mariela Candelario put in a pass from Victoria Villasenor early in the second half.
Alyssa Blankenship scored off a pass from Samantha Palomino to give Brandeis a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. O’Connor (6-0-3, 5-0-3) needed only 29 seconds to tie it on Katerina Clukey’s goal.
