A water crisis in Chapel Hill, N.C., means a date and location change for Notre Dame’s game against North Carolina.
The No. 20 Irish and No. 12 Tar Heels will play at noon Sunday at the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum. The game was originally scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill.
ESPNews will televise the game.
"We don’t run any set plays, so we are always flexible," Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said of the change in a statement.
North Carolina canceled classes and closed its campus Friday afternoon after a "major water main" broke, according to the Raleigh News & Observer.
The water system supplying the Chapel Hill campus and surrounding area instructed its 20,000 customers not to drink or use water because of critically low supplies. Chapel Hill Mayor Pam Hemminger has declared a state of emergency.
A Notre Dame spokesman told the Associated Press the team would fly to Raleigh on Saturday morning and take a bus to Greensboro, about 65 miles west.
Notre Dame (17-6, 6-4 ACC) has lost four of its last five games. North Carolina (20-4, 8-2) has won eight of nine.
