Oregon State football coach Gary Andersen joined me on the Bald Faced Truth radio show (12-3p on 102.9-FM and 750-AM) to download on spring football, his first car, and what beating Oregon in the Civil War meant to him. Andersen visited for nearly 40 minutes, and it took a twist midway through.

Andersen agreed to take calls from listeners of the show. An Oregon Ducks fan seized the opportunity and asked the Beavers coach about his relationship with Taggart and what he might do to foster a better relationship.

“I didn’t send him a Valentine’s card. Is that bad?” Andersen said.

The comment was preceded by Andersen complimenting Taggart. Also, Andersen talking about the kind of relationship he wants to have with all Pac-12 coaches — mainly that they’re all in the common business of helping kids. But it was the comment about the Valentine’s card that Andersen made that rankled some Ducks fans.

Feels like Andersen had no safe answer there. Also, that he handled it about as well as he could have. But still, I’ll let you decide for yourself.
