That was fast. Less than a week after New York Knicks owner James Dolan banned former fan favorite Charles Oakley from Madison Square Garden for life, the two spoke with NBA commissioner Adam Silver Monday while former superstar and current Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan joined via the phone.
At the end of the meeting, the NBA was ready to announce that the ban was over and the ugly situation was hopefully behind them.
Oakley was seen last week shoving security officials attempting to eject him from a game against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Garden, before being dragged out of the arena.
But what many seem to have neglected is the legal aspect of last week’s debacle. After his confrontation with security, Oakley was arrested, taken into custody and reportedly charged with three county of assault (misdemeanor) and criminal trespassing.
The lifetime ban at the Garden may be gone, but will Oakley still face legal consequences for his actions last Wednesday?
