The Portland Thorns have signed Australian forward Ashleigh Sykes, a source confirmed to the Oregonian/OregonLive Tuesday.

The 25-year-old forward will not be in Portland to start the NWSL season, but will join the Thorns by June 1.

Sykes has spent the majority of her professional career in Australia and recently helped lead Canberra United to the Australian W-League premiership title, earning the league’s Golden Boot with 12 goals in the 2016-17 campaign.

Sykes made the news in January when she scored four goals for Canberra United in a game against Perth Glory.

Despite spending the majority of her career with Canberra United, Sykes did have a brief stint with Japanese club AS Harima ALBION in 2016. At the international level, Sykes represented Australia at the 2015 Women’s World Cup.
