ORLANDO—The best three-point shooting season of Kyle Lowry’s career has landed the Toronto Raptors guard an extra gig at the NBA all-star weekend.

Lowry, shooting a career-best 42.7 per cent from long range, will join defending champion Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors in the three-point shootout on Feb. 18 as part of the league’s all-star weekend.

Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving, Charlotte’s Kemba Walker, Portland’s C.J. McCollum, Houston’s Eric Gordon, Wes Matthews from Dallas and Nick Young of the Los Angeles Lakers round out the field.

Lowry took part in the three-point contest last February in Toronto but did not advance out of the preliminary round.

The Saturday night program will also include an encore performance from Orlando’s Aaron Gordon in the slam-dunk contest.

Gordon was a somewhat controversial second to Minnesota’s Zach LaVine in a thrilling dunk contest last year. LaVine is not competing this year after winning the last two contests.

Gordon will face the Clippers’ DeAndre Jordan, Glenn Robinson III of Indiana and Derrick Jones Jr. of Phoenix.
