Southern Lehigh 54, Northwestern Lehigh 38 – Rapid Recap

On Valentine’s Day, Southern Lehigh High School’s girls basketball team earned another date with Notre Dame.

The top-seeded Spartans dispatched fifth-seeded Northwestern Lehigh 54-38 in the Colonial League semifinals on Tuesday night at Catasauqua High School.

Turning point: Southern Lehigh closed the first half on a 16-1 run and took a 31-13 advantage into halftime.

Northwestern cut the deficit to 13 in both the third and fourth quarters but never got within single digits.

Top performers: Avery Bennett scored a game-high 18 points for Southern Lehigh. Amanda Mobley and Olivia Snyder chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Leighanna Lister paced Northwestern (16-8) with 18 points.

What it means: Southern Lehigh (22-1) advances to the Colonial League final against Notre Dame 6 p.m. Friday at either Freedom High or Easton Area Middle School (wherever the EPC championship isn’t).

The Spartans are seeking their second straight league title.
