In Tom Brady’s world, there wasn’t much missing from the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl LI victory.
Biggest comeback in Super Bowl history? Check. MVP trophy? Got it. Getting to rub this title in Commissioner Roger Goodell’s face in the wake of Deflategate? Most definitely.
But in the chaos of the postgame celebration, Brady’s game-worn No. 12 jersey was nowhere to be found, and as of Monday morning its whereabouts were still unknown. According to The Associated Press, he told a Patriots equipment manager that he remembered put it in his locker but could not find it in his bags or anywhere else, adding that "someone stole it."
"Yeah, it’s going to be on eBay at some point," he told a reporter after the game.
At least one Chicago athlete can feel Brady’s pain. Corey Crawford’s goalie pads were stolen before the Hawks’ Stadium Series matchup against Pittsburgh in March 2014.
"This is crazy," Crawford told the Tribune at the time. "I’ve never seen this before. I’ve never heard of this before. It’s crazy, man. The trainers are all stunned that it happened. Honestly, I told every guy, and some of the guys didn’t believe it happened."
