The Portland Trail Blazers traded Mason Plumlee to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday in a move that stunned his teammates and generated a tsunami of thanks and goodwill for the center who has become a beloved fan favorite at the Moda Center during his time in Rip City.

The trade, which became official Monday, sends Plumlee and a second-round pick to the Denver Nuggets for center Jusuf Nurkic and a 2017 first-round pick.

Plumlee, who started all 136 regular-season games over the last two years with the Blazers, wrote a thoughtful thank-you note to everyone in Portland.

“Over the last two seasons, I’ve been fortunate to be part of a world-class organization with incredible teammates and coaches and some of the most passionate and supportive basketball fans in the NBA,” Plumlee wrote on his verified Facebook page.
