Tyler Toney, who took over as West Linn’s boys basketball coach this summer, is out indefinitely with a medical situation.

Assistant coach Trevor Munne is serving as interim head coach for Friday night’s game at Canby for the No. 2 Lions. West Linn athletic director Mark Horak said Munne will continue in that role until Toney returns.

Toney, a 1999 West Linn graduate, replaced Eric Viuhkola, who resigned last spring after coaching the Lions to four consecutive Class 6A state championships. Toney was an assistant coach under Viuhkola, and previously had a four-year stint as head coach at Portland Christian.

West Linn (12-4) leads the Three Rivers League with a 7-0 record heading into its game at Canby.
