Rutgers travels to Columbus, Ohio, to face Ohio State on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 (2/8/17) in a Big Ten showdown. The Scarlet Knights are led by forward Deshawn Freeman and guard Corey Sanders, while the Buckeyes feature Jae’Sean Tate, who leads five players averaging in double figures with 14.2 points per game.

Can the Scarlet Knights make it two in a row? After winning at Penn State to earn its first Big Ten road win in two-plus seasons in the conference last Saturday, Rutgers travels to face a Buckeyes team on the heels of an upset triumph of its own.

Marc Loving scored 17 points and Trevor Thompson tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds as Ohio State stunned rival Michigan, 70-66, on Saturday.

“We’ve come a long way and its hard to win in this league,” Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell said. “There are terrific teams that are well coached. Obviously we were on a stretch there, a long stretch (of Big Ten road losses) and I was tired of reading about it. I didn’t want to be known by that kind of streak. So our guys did something about it and I’m happy for them.”

The task of making it two straight road wins won’t be easy for the Scarlet Knights, who haven’t won consecutive league road wins since February 2000. The last time Rutgers won consecutive away conference games played back-to-back was in February 1991 as a member of the Atlantic 10.

The Buckeyes are formidable at Value City Arena, boasting more home wins than any team in the country since the 2009-10 season, with a 132-20 (.868) record in Columbus during that span.

This season, Ohio State is 12-4 at home.
