“Madame, it will have to come more covered in the future.” Amandine Gaudin, 39 years old, will not soon forget his last trip in a Carrefour store of Étampes (Essonne). Last Saturday, the young woman – who carries on the profession of sports coach, -, goes there to do his shopping. Coming directly from work, Amandine is in sport outfit: she wears a vest and a legging. It is 35 degrees on this day.

Problem: her outfit seems to bother an employee. In the absence of the director of “the usual” on that Saturday, this employee is the store manager. “I had nearly completed my cart and an employee of the Crossroads came to talk with me,” says Amandine to the Figaro. Before continuing: “She told me that the next time, it will come covered with a t-shirt or top instead of the bra”. “I was shocked and I thought it was a joke. In addition, I am a customer since a long time,” continues Amanda. Very disgusted, the thirty-year-old continues his races and goes to the cashier. She discusses then the situation with the cashier and the customers around her. Everyone supports the sports coach, and nobody understands why an employee of the store made him reproach on his outfit. Clients take the same picture in front of the Crossroads as a sign of support.

not wishing to leave the shop without having explanation, Amandine finally returned to see the employee in question. The latter is justified, then, in a manner surprising to say the least: a client had complained that her outfit was “too bare”.

“I’m talking about this so that women can dress as they want and do not want this to be in the future.’

“It is appalling. She asked me to stay covered and still today, I do not understand the reasons which have led him to tell me that. I felt humiliated,” says Amandine. The young woman, who relayed his misadventure in a post shared more than 13,000 times on Facebook, explains that it “speaks of it so that women can dress as they want and do not want this to be in the future.’ Before concluding: “It is not necessary that it extends, because then we will be asked to put a pants instead of a skirt”.

Carrefour regrets reaction “disproportionate”

Contacted by Le Figaro, Carrefour management explained that the director of the store (which was absent on the day of the incident, editor’s NOTE) has apologised to Amandine. “The reaction of the collaborator (who has been criticized by Amandine held, editor’s NOTE) was disproportionate, and this person deeply regrets his remarks,” adds the executive.

On social networks, many users make the link between this incident and a possible religious foundation. Questioned on this point, Carrefour France categorically denies: “there is no religious connotation, it is a collaborator who wanted to do”. We finally indicates that “the director of the Crossroads of Stamps has resensibilisé all of the employees at the store.”
