The "suspicious content" that prompted a Chicago police bomb and arson unit to evacuate apartments in the Homan Square neighborhood early Thursday turned out to be a box with old wires, police said.

Police responded to the 3500 block of West Flournoy Street about 1:15 a.m. after receiving a report of "suspicious contents," and the surrounding buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

By 2:45 a.m., no threat to the residents was found, and people were allowed to return to their homes, police said.
