The year-on-year inflation rate in the United Kingdom stood at 6.8% last July, compared to the 7.9% rise in prices in June, which represents the lowest level of inflation since February of 2022, as reported this Wednesday by the British National Statistics Office (ONS, for its acronym in English).
In the seventh month of 2023, the year-on-year increase in the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages in the United Kingdom was 14.8%, compared to 17.3% in the previous month.
Core inflation, which excludes the volatility of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices, remained at 6.9% in July, contrary to the decline expected by analysts.
In monthly terms, prices registered a decrease of 0.4% in the seventh month of the year, compared to the increase of 0.6% experienced in the same month of 2022.
