The border crossing has been open since 3 p.m. and there have been no new incidents.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has condemned the attacks on the French border against trucks importing Spanish products, considering that “they threaten the free circulation of goods within the European Union (EU) and harm the interests of of those affected”.

Sources from the Department headed by Luis Planas have assured Europa Press that they have been “in contact with the French authorities so that normality is restored and these incidents are not reproduced.”

As a consequence, through the Spanish Embassy in Paris (particularly between the Ministries of Agriculture and Interior of both countries), the border crossing has been open since 3 p.m. and there have been no new incidents. The Government has expressed its desire that these illegal acts do not occur again.

This same Thursday, October 19, French winegrowers have organized in Narbonne to carry out a surprise operation and stop Spanish wine imports, as reported by the Spanish Confederation of Freight Transport (CETM).

Protesters have stopped trucks on the A-9 at the Le Boulou border crossing, blocking their access and subsequently emptying some vehicles and destroying merchandise, including wine tankers.
