The government has decided to waive the limitation of the niche for people over 70 years of age for the employment of home help, announced on Tuesday that the prime minister, Édouard Philippe. “This decision would have required a deeper engagement”, said the head of the government during questions to the government at the Meeting. “This is the reason why I asked the minister of Labour to waive to this extent”, he added.

“These measures will not come into force, but (…) we will have to find other avenues of savings in this field. The minister, we will send quickly other proposals which will be subject to consultation with the parliamentarians and with the sectors concerned,” said Edouard Philippe.
The government intends to “refocus” the exemption of employer contributions for the jobs at home on those “most in need”, defending himself from any “anti-old”. The measure, in the framework of the finance bill 2020, would have enabled savings could go up to € 310 million in 2020, and $ 360 million in the following years.
