The Ibex 35 has closed with a new advance of 0.10% and has stood at 9,324.7 integers, although at some moments of the session it has reached 9,400 integers.

The markets are paying attention today and tomorrow to this week’s big event: the Jackson Hole central bankers symposium, which will include speeches by the chairman of the United States Federal Reserve (Fed), Jerome Powell, and the chair of the European Central Bank (ECB), Christine Lagarde.

Despite the fact that the ‘leitmotif’ chosen for this year’s edition of the Jackson Hole symposium, the 46th since its inception, is that of “structural changes in the global economy”, the markets will be awaiting any clue about the next rate decisions of the central banks of the United States and the eurozone.

Among today’s references, the results of the American microchip and graphics card manufacturer Nvidia stand out, which achieved in its second fiscal quarter, ended in July, a net profit of 6,188 million dollars (5,691 million euros), a figure that multiplies by more than of nine the profits of the same quarter last year (843%) and that triples those obtained in its first fiscal quarter. In addition, revenues totaled 13,507 million dollars (12,427.8 million euros), double that of a year earlier.

On the other hand, the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Turkey, led by Governor Hafize Gaye Erkan, has decided to raise the reference rate from 17.5% to 25%, its highest level since 2004, according to communicated the institution. This has led the Turkish subsidiary of BBVA in Turkey, Garanti, to rise 10% on the stock market.

In this way, Aena has risen 1.36% at the end of the session, followed by BBVA (1.33%), CaixaBank (1.14%), Repsol (0.95%), Mapfre (0.90 %), Unicaja Banco (0.89%) and Bankinter (0.81%).

On the opposite side, Logista has experienced a fall of 1.60%, although the discount on its share of the dividend that will be paid on August 28 has weighed on its price. Excluding this effect, the company has appreciated by 0.41%.

Therefore, the biggest falls were registered by Indra (-1.30%), Grifols (-1.29%), MeliĆ” (-1.23%), Amadeus (-1.23%), Fluidra (-1 08%), IAG (-1.00%) and ArcelorMittal (-0.96%).

The rest of the main European indices have closed, on the other hand, negative, since Frankfurt has requested 0.68%, Milan, 0.57% and Paris, 0.44%. Only London has advanced 0.18% in the session.

On the other hand, the price of a barrel of Brent quality oil, a reference for the Old Continent, fell 0.16%, to 83.10 dollars, while Texas stood at 78.80 dollars, 0.10 % less.

In the currency market, the price of the euro against the dollar fell to 1.0826 ‘green tickets’, while in the debt market the interest required on the 10-year Spanish bond rose to 3.530% and the premium risk remained at 102 basis points.
