The Ibex 35 was trading at 11,148.8 points in the mid-session, 0.03% less than at Monday’s close, thus losing the dynamism that it had registered at the opening and that had led the selective to reach close to 11,200 points.

Today’s day has been marked by a new offensive by the bearish fund Gotham City Research against Grifols by stating that BPC Plasma, a company controlled by the Catalan firm, lent “over the years” funds that it “received from a third party, very probably Grifols”, to the Scranton family office.

Also in the business field, the State Society of Industrial Participations (SEPI) has reported today that on May 9 it exceeded the threshold of 8% in Telefónica’s share capital.

Likewise, investors will continue to pay attention throughout the week to how BBVA’s hostile takeover bid (OPA) for Banco Sabadell evolves.

In the macroeconomic field, Spain’s CPI rose 0.7% in April compared to the previous month and raised its interannual rate by one tenth, to 3.3%, due to the rise in gas and food prices, according to the final data published this Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which confirms those advanced at the end of last month.

For its part, German inflation stood at 2.2% year-on-year in April, in line with the inflation reading of the previous month, thus repeating the smallest increase in the cost of living since May 2021. However, the Harmonized inflation data, used by Eurostat in its statistics, accelerated during the fourth month of the year by one tenth compared to the level observed in March, rising to 2.4%.

In the debt markets, the Public Treasury awarded 1,909.9 million euros this Tuesday in an auction of three- and nine-month bills, in the medium range of the planned objective, and it did so at rates slightly lower than those of the previous auction of this type of paper.

In this context, Ferrovial was the value that led the selective in the mid-session (3.25%), ahead of Colonial (2.92%), Solaria (2.50%), Fluidra (2.12%), Cellnex (1.69%), and Amadeus (1.52%).

On the opposite side are Grifols (-3.10%), Meliá (-2.53%), Telefónica (-1.30%), Banco Santander (-1.1%), Banco Sabadell (-0.94% ) and Inditex (-0.71%).

In this context, only London (0.16%) and Milan (0.48%) were trading positively in the mid-session among the main European stock markets. Frankfurt fell 0.18% while Paris fell 0.06%.

The barrel of Brent registered a decrease towards the average European session of 0.06%, to 83.31 dollars, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) stood at 79.11 dollars, 0.01% less.

The yield on the Spanish bond maturing in 10 years stood at 3.03% in the mid-session, unchanged compared to Monday’s close. In this way, the risk premium against German debt fell by two tenths, to 79.2 basis points.

In the foreign exchange market, the euro rose slightly against the dollar until reaching an exchange rate of 1.0794 ‘greenbacks’ for each unit of the community currency.
