“Business desperately seeking candidates”. This slogan sums up one of the ills of the French economy: jobs are available but can’t find takers. In the Face of this shortage of manpower, foreign workers are recruited. Illustration this summer: fifty Tunisians have been hired to work in the restoration in Britain. “There has been an agreement between the governments of france and tunisia to offer permanent positions in france to Tunisian people”, explained to the Figaro Hervé Becam, vice-president of the union des métiers et des industries de l’hotellerie (UMIH). Another example: the program HOPE (Accommodation Orientation Pathways to Employment). Launched in 2017, and co-driver by the directorate general of foreigners in France (DGEF) within the ministry of Interior and the ministry of Labour, it is used for the accompaniment of refugees through employment. His goal: to recruit 1500 refugees per year on jobs lack of applicants in France.
