Police in Washington Township, Northampton County, asked for the public’s help Monday in identifying a thief with a taste for champagne.
Township police released a surveillance image they say shows the perpetrator of the felony theft, which occurred about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Weis, 1309 Blue Valley Drive in the Bangor Plaza.
The man stole three cases of champagne valued at $1,200.
He is described as black, about 25 to 30 years old and was wearing a blue knit cap, dark blue down vest with a long-sleeve white shirt underneath, bearing a logo on the left sleeve, police said.
The thief entered the store through the cafe entrance, roamed around the alcohol displays, then loaded the cases into a cart and left through the main store entrance, township police Chief Scott Miller.
Police had not as of Monday confirmed any vehicle involved or accomplices.
