TRENTON – One of three men connected to a shooting that left a 19-year-old dead almost four years ago was sentenced to prison Friday morning.
Marquis Skillman, 30, of Trenton, was ordered to spend 11 years in prison for one count of first-degree robbery Friday.

The charge is connected to a shooting in June 2013 on Passaic Street that killed 19-year-old Rayshawn Ransom, who was sitting in a car at the time. The shooting was a result of a feud between groups from West State Street and Passaic Street, Mercer County prosecutors have said.
Skillman, his brother Alton Jones and Dyquise Leonard were all arrested and charged with murder for the killing, but the murder charges against Skillman and Leonard were later dropped when investigators discovered that Jones was the gunman who fired the fatal shot, prosecutors said.
Leonard pleaded guilty to attempted murder. Jones pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated manslaughter last year for both killing Ransom and shooting 19-year-old Tierra Green to death only three days later. Leonard and Skillman were not involved in Green’s shooting.
Skillman is the brother of Maurice Skillman, 30, who, along with Hykeem Tucker, was convicted of murder last year for the 2012 slaying of corrections officer Carl Batie. Both Maurice Skillman and Tucker were given life sentences for the killing.
Marquis Skillman was also sentenced to five years in prison Friday for a gun charge. The sentence will run concurrent to his 11-year sentence. He must serve more than nine years in prison before he is eligible for parole.
