MADRID, 11 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Ukraine will ask between 12,000 million and 14,000 million dollars (11,189-13,054 million euros) from the United States in 2024 to meet the expenses derived from the Russian invasion and the slow progress of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
“Talks have not yet been opened. There are many unknowns and we are not sure that it can be taken for granted,” Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said this Monday in statements reported by ‘Bloomberg’.
In addition, Ukraine also expects to obtain an additional credit line of 3,300 million dollars (3,077 million euros) before the end of the year.
Last week, the Ministry of Defense announced that it would request an extra increase in financing of 251,000 million hryvnas (6,334 million euros) given the growing military costs.
Marchenko has stated that they will meet as soon as possible to address this request, although he has not been “sure” that “all their needs” can be met.
