Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered his condolences to the victims of the Texas school shooting on Wednesday, saying it is “terrible to have gunmen victims in peacetime”.
“I want to offer my condolences to all the loved ones and families of the children who were killed in the terrible shooting of a school in Texas”, affirmed the leader in the preamble of a speech during a breakfast hosted by Ukraine in Davos.
“It is terrible to have victims of shooters in peacetime”, estimated the Ukrainian president who spoke in Ukrainian by videoconference and whose remarks were translated.
“It happens everywhere, it happens in the world, it happens visibly in societies at peace,” also said the head of state whose country has been under attack from Russia for three months.
An 18-year-old opened fire at an elementary school in Texas on Tuesday, killing 19 young students and two adults, a tragedy that has plunged America into a chronic nightmare.
“It’s time to turn pain into action,” insisted US President Joe Biden, visibly moved, in a solemn address at the White House, saying he was “sickened and tired” in the face of the litany of school shootings.
This latest tragedy claimed the lives of children as young as ten years old.
