Members of the Union of the public service of Quebec (SFPQ) would have ransacked the office of the Minister for Transport François Bonnardel, affirmed this last Tuesday.

“Earlier today, members of the @SFPQ_Syndicat broke into my county office, frightened and intimidated my two employees, stole items and committed acts of vandalism,” lamented the CAQ minister on his twitter account.

“I strongly condemn this deplorable and unjustified gesture and we will file a complaint with the police. This kind of behavior has no place here or anywhere else and I ask the SFPQ to bring its members to order,” continued the MP.

This event comes the day after the announcement of a week-long strike affecting around 26,000 civil servants, from June 13 to 17.

The SFPQ and the government are at an impasse in negotiations for the renewal of the collective agreement for civil servants, which has expired since March 2020. Unionized workers have already held a few days of strike here and there since the beginning of spring, and had taken advantage of the CAQ convention in Drummondville at the end of May to make their demands heard.
