The price of used housing in Spain closed August at 2,004 euros per square meter, which is 7.2% more than the same month of the previous year and 0.4% more than in July, according to the latest real estate price index. of Idealist.
By autonomous communities, twelve of them showed higher prices last month, with the Canary Islands in the lead, by increasing their prices by 1.4%. They are followed by La Rioja (1.1%), Asturias (1%), Cantabria (0.9%), the Basque Country (0.8%), Andalusia and the Valencian Community (0.7% in both cases).
On the other hand, Extremadura led the price declines, with 0.6% less. They are followed by Catalonia (-0.4%), Region of Murcia (-0.2%), Community of Madrid and Castilla y León (-0.1% in both communities).
Despite this, the Balearic Islands was the most expensive region, with 3,987 euros per square meter, followed by the Community of Madrid (3,139 euros), Euskadi (2,844 euros) and Catalonia (2,345 euros).
On the opposite side, Castilla la Mancha (907 euros), Extremadura (943 euros) and Castilla y León (1,156 euros), were the cheapest communities.
Up to 35 provinces registered higher prices in August than those of the previous month. The greatest increases were experienced in Guipúzcoa (2%), followed by Santa Cruz de Tenerife (1.9%), Huesca (1.9%), Albacete (1.7%), Málaga (1.3%), Almería and Huelva (1.2% in both provinces).
On the opposite side, Badajoz (-1.1%) was the province where the expectations of sellers fell the most, followed by Barcelona (-0.6%), Segovia, Ávila and Salamanca (-0.4% in the three cases).
In this way, the Balearic Islands reaffirmed itself as the most expensive province to buy a home (3,987 euros), ahead of Guipúzcoa (3,490 euros). They are followed by Madrid (3,139 euros), Malaga (3,002 euros), Vizcaya (2,738 euros) and Barcelona (2,671 euros).
On the other hand, Ciudad Real was the cheapest province with a price of 752 euros per square meter. They are followed by Cuenca (790 euros) and Jaén (820 euros).
