Verizon has announced a new unlimited data plan for customers, but subscribers will have to dig deeper into their pockets to surf without data caps on smartphones.
The company started offering the unlimited talk, text and data service Monday on smartphones and tablets at a price of $80 a month. Existing customers can keep their current plans or opt into the new unlimited one.
“We’ve built our network so we can manage all the activity customers undertake. Everything we’ve done is to provide the best experience on the best network – and we’ve built it for the future, not just for today,” Ronan Dunne, president of Verizon’s wireless division said in a press release.

To get the $80 per month price, customers have to sign up for paper-free billing and AutoPay. You can also bundle four lines together for the same plan and pay $45 per line (or $180) for the same options.
Adding a smart watch or other device will cost an additional $5 each per month.
The monthly price does not include taxes or fees.
The service also includes HD video streaming, mobile hotspot, and calling and texting to Mexico and Canada. Customers can also use their phones in those two countries with up to 500 MB per day.
It’s the most expensive unlimited plan out of the four top national carriers.
Unlimited data plans are also offered by T-Mobile and Sprint — but do not come with HD video streaming.
T-Mobile’s unlimited plan comes at $70 per month per line or $160 for four lines, and includes unlimited data, talk and text.
Sprint offers the same service at $50 per month per line or five lines at $90 per month. Both carriers include taxes and fees in their charges.
AT&T does not offer unlimited data to its wireless customers.
