Due to financial considerations, quarterback Baker Mayfield may remain with the Cleveland Browns longer than he thinks.

According to cleveland.com, the Ohio organization has no plans to release the 27-year-old. If she fires him, she will have to absorb the final year of Mayfield’s rookie contract, which is set to earn $18.85 million next season.
In fact, she especially wants to exchange it, but the formations interested in her services do not seem to be numerous. Rumors thus sent Mayfield to the Seattle Seahawks or the Carolina Panthers: in the second case, the Browns did not want to assume the major part of the pivot’s salary, as the Panthers would have requested.
Thus, the one who was annoyed by a shoulder injury in 2021 could still be part of the team when it begins training camp in late July, even if Deshaun Watson – acquired from the Texans of Houston during the winter – will act as the number 1 quarterback. This is without counting the hiring of Jacoby Brissett, who could work as a backup.
Last year, Mayfield had 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 14 games, completing 60.5% of his passes, before undergoing surgery.
