New G-SHOCK THE RIDE experience is Casio’s second VRChat-based content offering
TOKYO, Dec. 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of G-SHOCK THE RIDE, a virtual attraction that allows users to experience what it would be like to participate in durability testing at that Casio submits the G-SHOCK line of shock-resistant watches. This virtual amusement park-like attraction can be accessed through the virtual reality social platform VRChat.
In October 2023, Casio opened a virtual G-SHOCK STORE on VRChat to offer visitors metaverse-based content that allows them to experiment with G-SHOCK customization, as well as see what VRChat avatars look like with the watches. that they have created, and much more. The space is designed to serve as a point of contact between the G-SHOCK brand and new users.
Now, as its second VRChat-based content offering, Casio launches G-SHOCK THE RIDE, a ride-type attraction that offers users simulated durability testing experiences of futuristic G-SHOCKs.
Although based on G-SHOCK durability testing carried out at the Hamura R&D Center, the brand’s watch development base, G-SHOCK THE RIDE goes much further, with a narrative that imagines the shape that could adopt such durability tests in the future. The attraction invites users to climb aboard a G-SHOCK with their avatar as if they were stepping onto an amusement park attraction, to enjoy the kind of fantastic, beyond-reality immersive experiences that are only possible in virtual reality spaces.
