An anti-Trump Republican political consultant is suing a convicted con man who tried to pump her for information on her efforts to derail Donald Trump during the primaries.

Cheryl Jacobus is seeking $4 million from Ponzi schemer Steven Wessel, who is currently in federal prison on fraud charges after allegedly stealing $1 million from investors by claiming to be an adviser to Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Jacobus, who also unsuccessfully sued President Trump for defamation after he slammed her on Twitter, is also suing “John and Jane Does 1-100,” and believes, according to a published report, that Trump’s camp might have helped put Wessel up to his scheme.

Jacobus was one of three Republicans targeted by Wessel, who used several fake names and courted them online to get them to reveal their plans.
