CLEVELAND, Ohio — “American Idol” might be coming back. The starmaking sensation aired its final episode on Fox in April, but Variety reported Thursday that NBC is in talks to revive the singing competition.
While the show produced unquestionable superstars like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, recent winners have attained a decidedly lower profile. Don’t believe me? Just try and name the past three “Idol” winners without Googling it.
But the show’s legacy endures, as it was one of the most-watched television programs in history. It also inspired several copycat programs. In 2012, the finalists famously acquired more votes than that year’s presidential candidates — although in fairness, “Idol” allows children to participate and viewers can vote more than once.
So how excited are you to see a new season of “Idol?” Let us know by taking our poll below.
