Boulder police were able to locate the owner of a pet bird rescued out of a tree on Thursday by an animal control officer.
The bird — a sun conure, also known as a sun parakeet — is apparently named Tesla, and his owner was notified by a friend who saw news of the bird’s rescue on social media, according to a tweet by Boulder police.
Tesla was spotted Wednesday in the 3000 block of Westwood Court. Boulder animal control Officer Taylor Barnes was able to climb into the tree and coax Tesla out using some sunflower seeds.
Some witnesses had seen the bird earlier almost get carried off by a crow and dropped onto the roof. So when its owner arrived on scene before Barnes looking for his bird, they mistakenly told him it had died.
