BRECKSVILLE, Ohio – On Tuesday night, City Council approved contracts with six companies that will handle the city’s 2017 road maintenance program.
The companies are J.D. Striping & Services Inc. in Ravenna; Specialized Construction Inc. in Newburgh Heights; Set In Stone Contracting LLC in the Hinckley area; Lake Erie Construction Co. in Norwalk; Asphalt Fabrics & Specialties in Solon; and Cross Roads Asphalt Recycling in Columbia Station.
The total road-maintenance budget for 2017 is $1.4 million, said Service Director Ron Weidig. The city sought bids on 15 separate projects this year.
“Each year, the city bids the road program with anywhere from 10 to 15 different projects, all bid separately,” Mayor Jerry Hruby said in an email to cleveland.com. “The lowest and best bidder for each project is awarded the contract for the work during that particular year.”
According to the ordinance council approved Tuesday, J.D. Striping will repaint lines and stripes on city streets and crosswalks. Specialized Construction, among other things, will repair asphalt road joints, plane roads, lay asphalt and chemically treat pavement.
