Get Your Party Planning Hat On and Dancing Shoes Ready!

Once a year, Koinonia Homes employees donate money to throw a “spring fling” dance for their clients, adults who have developmental disabilities. Help plan the venue, food, and details of this signature May event! This is a short-term volunteer opportunity to help make the most of their budget. Meetings scheduled for February 7, 7-8pm, Thursday, March 2nd, and Thursday, April 6th, at the Parma/Snow Library.

Night at the Races Volunteers

Midview Band Boosters will be hosting a night at the races on Saturday, March 4, 2017, from 5:30-10:30pm. Assistance is needed with selling tickets or running a racing booth window. This is a very fast-paced event that flies by! North Ridgeville.

Healthy Kids Day Volunteers

The Greater Cleveland YMCA is seeking volunteers to assist with their Healthy Kids Day event at The Q, Saturday, March 25, 12-5pm. Volunteers will assist with set up and tear down of the event, registering and checking in guests, assist vendors with any activities they may have at their stations. The event itself will last from 3pm to 5 pm, with a MANDATORY training meeting prior to the event at 12:00 pm.

Helping the Hungry

The Centers for Families and Children is dedicated to fighting hunger in Cuyahoga County. Volunteers are needed to stock, bag, and hand out non-perishable food and to greet all who enter the centers. Volunteers are needed especially at the Brookside Food Center at 3780-3784 Pearl Road and Community Corner Food Center at 8302 Detroit Avenue, but also have positions at Near West Food Center at 3610 Bridge Avenue. Choose your shift: hours are 10:00am – 2:00pm Monday-Friday.

Drivers Needed

For many folks in the Akron community that are frail, immune compromised, or need a friendly face to alleviate their anxiety, traditional transportation services are not an easy option. Interfaith Caregiver’s Program is seeking volunteer drivers for their Door-Through-Door Transportation program. Volunteers can choose assignments that work best for them on RideScheduler, a web-based software. Mileage reimbursement is available for medical appointments. Liability personal and auto insurance offered by Interfaith Caregivers. Valid driver’s license and insurance coverage required.

Encore Opportunities

Keeping it Green at the Natural History Museum

Encore Acts! is headed to the Museum of Natural History’s Smead Discovery Center, the museum’s hands-on learning center designed for visitors of all ages. In keeping with promoting a green environment, we will be trimming donated materials that would otherwise have been thrown out. Volunteers will help prep and trim paper to make it useable, punch out animal shapes from old wallpaper and do other craft prep for their Summer Show & Tell programs. Spots are limited. Free Parking and admittance into post volunteer event at the museum. Wednesday, April 19, 3-6pm.
